Títle Days of Rising Doom (2003)
Label Transmission Records

If anyone hated Heavies, I can assure you that this would have been the ideal time to place a huge bomb in the place these got together and finish off a good deal of long-haired dudes. The thinking and thus creative motors of this project have been Robert Hunecke-Rizzo, Miro, Amanda Somerville and the producer Sascha Paeth, who must have spent a fortune on mobile phone calls to get all the people that participate in this record together: Jens Johansson, Derek Sherinian, Thomas Rettke, Michael Kiske, Candice Night, Glenn Hughes, Andre Matos, Olaf Hayer and Tobias Sammet, to name only a few.

And... Can anyone guess the purpose of such a reunion? Beer, Whisky, Tequila and Vodka party?... Bingo. And between bottles... a "Metal Opera". And here is where I should start saying those things about the record being great, a masterpiece, an exceptional release, and bla, bla, bla... However, what we have is a fairly average result. It's ok, but no more than that; they don't break any moulds or manage to make the most of the participation of so many famous musical starts. We can underline the songs where Thomas Rettke (exHeaven's Gate) and Glenn Hughes participate with their vocals though, but the rest remain at a more or less similar level, an average/high level, but that's it.

So, another project for their CVs, and another record that still doesn't resolve my doubts on why these things should be labelled as "Metal Operas"; especially this one, which is more Hard Rock than Metal. We'll just have to wait for the next one and see.
