We don't usually
write reviews about compilations, because it wouldn't be much
interesting debating about the song choice and the cd's artwork.
But in this case all the songs have been recorded again for
the compilation.
One of the pros is that it has a better production work, and
the ryhtmic base sounds more powerful, adjusting to what is
fancied nowadays. Artwork is good too and the song choicement,
perfect. But not everything is as positive as those points in
this compilation of the three main Andersson's bands: Majestic,
Time Requiem and Space Odyssey. For Goran Edman's fans this
would be terrific: good songs per se, better made and recorded
with Edman's voice. But for the remainder of the human beings
it isn't, because Goran Edman, admiting that he's a good singer,
doesn't have the brightness and the power of Space Odyssey's
singer's, Patrick Johansson, voice. But, and above all, he doesn't
have neither Apollo's texture nor his vocal playing capacity,
this amazing singer of Time Requiem (ex Majestic), Meduza, Sandalinas,
ect...
The worst thing is that Goran doesn't sing as he knows, but
imitating Apollo, and sometimes, though he reaches the tone,
he just can hold that tone, with no modulation.
What could've been a really good compilation, leaves us with
the idea that Andersson has commited a really big error: as
he has left us without those two wonderful singers as Patrick
and Apollo, he could've adapted the songs to Goran's voice,
making them to sound less... strange.
